Love is the second film in Dag Johan Haugerud's Oslo Stories Trilogy and follows Marianne, a doctor avoiding relationships, and Tor, a nurse who explores casual intimacy. After Tor shares his experiences on the ferry, Marianne becomes intrigued and begins to question whether a more open approach to sex and love could work for her, leading both characters to explore uncharted emotional and sexual territories. The film delves into unconventional love stories, the complexities of human connection, and how relationships are navigated in a modern context.
LOVE is part of the SEX-LOVE-DREAMS trilogy of director Dag Johan Haugerud.
Love had its world premiere in the main competition of the 81st Venice International Film Festival, and was subsequently nominated at both the Göteborg Film Festival and the Istanbul Film Festival for its nuanced exploration of moral dilemmas surrounding desire, vulnerability, and intimacy. Love also won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Tromsø International Film Festival in 2025. The film manages to highlight the precision of the writing in everyday interactions and the film’s ability to explore how people live outside traditional commitments.
