Early 20th century, in the Ughetto family's home village, Ughettera, Northern Italy. Life in the region had become very difficult and the Ughettos dreamed of a better life abroad. Legend has it that Luigi Ughetto crossed the Alps and started a new life in France, thus changing his beloved family's destiny forever. His grandson retraces their story.

Premiered at the 2022 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, this is a poignant and inventive animated feature by Alain Ughetto. Blending stop-motion with personal storytelling, the film retraces the director’s own family history as Italian immigrants in early 20th-century France. It won the Jury Prize at Annecy 2022 and received the European Film Award for Best Animated Feature the same year. The film was also nominated for Best Animated Film at the 2023 César Awards.
