On the verge of opening her dream restaurant in Paris, Cécile is forced to return to her quiet hometown after her father suffers a heart attack. Away from the bustle of the city, she unexpectedly reunites with her first love, a meeting that rekindles old memories and makes her question the life she thought she wanted.
Partir un Jour, directed by Amélie Bonnin, was selected as the Opening Film of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, screened out of competition. This marks the director’s feature debut after her César-nominated short film of the same name (2022). The film stars Juliette Armanet, the celebrated singer-songwriter making her first major appearance on screen, alongside Bastien Bouillon, winner of the César Award for Most Promising Actor for The Night of the 12th (2023), and François Rollin, known for his long career in French theatre and television.

Le Parisien ★★★★★
The fourth female director to open the Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 13 to 24, Amélie Bonnin's debut feature film, Partir un jour, is a playful, bittersweet, and melancholic work in which the dialogue is punctuated by songs. On screen, singer Juliette Armanet is a revelation.
