Musique Week 2025
From 20 to 28 June 2025, Alliance Française de Singapour proudly hosted Musique Week, a vibrant week-long celebration of the universal language that is music.
Inspired by France’s beloved Fête de la Musique held each year on 21 June, this special edition extended the festivities over several days, transforming our spaces into a dynamic stage for voices, instruments and rhythms.Throughout the week, music echoed through every corner of Alliance Française - from the theatre to the médiathèque - bringing people together through moments of joy, discovery, and artistic expression. With concerts, musical storytelling, cinematic experiences and family friendly events, the lineup was rich and diverse, offering something for everyone!
Let’s take a moment to come back on this amazing week!

Musical Storytelling - Ocean Commotion!
Robert Jenkins, Justine Devisse Mezrani, and the talented musicians from Our Music School set the stage with ‘’Ocean Commotion!’’, an interactive musical performance that beautifully combined storytelling, live music, and playful audience participation. Through this vibrant show, audiences were taken on a captivating journey across the seas with three ocean-themed tales: the enchanting Japanese folktales The Little Crab and Urashima Taro, followed by the dynamic and spirited Surf War from the Marshall Islands. Drawing over 200 attendees, this performance was a resounding success, creating a lively and immersive atmosphere that captivated both children and parents.

Concert - Icons: Echoes Across Time by Maria Lavergne
Another key highlight of this special week was Maria Lavergne’s intimate acoustic concert ‘’Icons: Echoes Across Time’’, held in the cozy setting of our médiathèque. With only her voice and guitar, Maria delivered a heartfelt performance that breathed new life into timeless melodies. Her versatile repertoire blended cherished French chansons, English evergreens, acoustic pop, and subtle touches of jazz, creating a rich and captivating musical experience. With beautiful reinterpretations of classics like La Vie en Rose or My Way, Maria’s warm connection with the audience made the evening truly unforgettable.

Concert - Peemaï: Jazz World and Ethnic Groove
We were also thrilled to welcome PEEMAÏ, a bold, high-energy band that travelled from France especially for this occasion, fusing the raw power of jazz with global music influences and vibrant ethnic rhythms, for a one-night-only concert in our theatre. Drawing inspiration from Southeast Asian traditions and blending them with modern genres like rock, electronic, and funk, PEEMAÏ created an electrifying atmosphere.

Movie Screenings
Finally, throughout the week, audiences had the chance to dive into the world of iconic French musical figures through a selection of captivating films. From MONSIEUR AZNAVOUR, which traces the life of legendary singer Charles Aznavour, to AUTHENTIK, spotlighting one of France’s most influential rap groups NTM, and DIVERTIMENTO that sheds light on Zahia Ziouani, one of the few internationally acclaimed female conductors… each screening offered a unique glimpse into the France’s rich musical and cinematic heritage.

Thanks to everyone who came along for this wonderful week of music. Stay tuned for more musical events at AF!
