Francophonie Festival
2025 Edition
From 19 March to 4 April, Alliance Française de Singapour was thrilled to welcome more than 3 000 attendees for the annual Francophonie Festival. A lively celebration of the French language and the richness of Francophone cultures.
With the support of embassies from around the world, our space became a vibrant centre of art, cinema, literature, music, and gastronomy, bringing people together through creativity and connection.
Let’s take a moment to look back on the highlights of this unforgettable celebration!
Opening Night
We kicked off this year’s festival with an opening night at our gallery, unveiling the third and last chapter of Amours by Antoinette Rozan, an exhibition titled ''Re-Love-Union''. The event set the tone for the festival: an ode to love, community, and unity, values that lie at the heart of Francophonie. Guests mingled over drinks, explored Antoinette’s stunning artworks, and raised a toast to the launch of Francophonie.

Médiathèque Events
This year, our Médiathèque was full of life, laughter, and creativity. A fun storytelling session took children on a journey around the world, featuring stories from Canada, Africa, and French overseas territories. Supported by the High Commission of Canada, this sold out event was filled with joy, stories, and tasty snacks. We also held a Photo-Haïku Contest around the theme of Environment, where participants combined photos and poems in creative ways. On top of that, our Read-Aloud Book Club welcomed book lovers to share and enjoy French literature together in a cozy and friendly setting.
We were also honored to welcome two iconic authors. Karine Yoakim Pasquier, a Swiss author, came in our venues for an intimate writing and podcast creation workshop with our students. A rare opportunity to learn directly from an inspiring voice in Francophone literature. We also welcomed Hai Anh, author of the graphic novel ''Song'', who met with readers for a book signing and lively discussion.

Francophonie Film Festival
Our annual Francophonie Film Festival also took place to immerse, once again, people in the vibrant world of Francophone cinema! From thought-provoking dramas to animated gems, this year’s Francophonie Film Festival transported audiences across many countries:- France with Sailing Home
- Argentina with Los Corroboradores
- Ireland with The Quiet Girl
- Belgium & Switzerland with Savages
- Romania with An Unforgettable Summer
- Canada and Quebec with Ru
Some screenings even turned into full experiences, with themed cocktails, interactive discussions, and even costume-themed parties, bringing cinema to life in the most immersive way!
Live Performances
This year’s live performances brought laughter, emotion, and lots of energy to the Francophonie Festival. For our younger audience, we presented a special student-friendly version of Molière’s classic ''Le Malade Imaginaire''. In just 45 minutes, students enjoyed a fun and lively take on this famous play, making French theatre both accessible and entertaining. For adults, the stage came alive with ''Cherche un homme...'', a whimsical and laugh-out-loud theatrical performance, exploring the themes of love, language, and desire. And of course, music took center stage with VIVE 80s!, our high-energy fundraising concert. The crowd sang and danced along to the biggest French hits from the 1980s. It was a joyful, feel-good evening full of nostalgia and good vibes: one of the highlights of the festival!

Food Market
Saturday 29 March was all about food, flavor, and fun! Our gallery transformed into an international Food Market, where over 800 guests came together to explore Francophone flavors from around the world. From French cheeses and Swiss chocolates to Vietnamese banh mi, Polish pastries, Mexican sweets, and Ukrainian specialities, the space was filled with irresistible aromas, cheerful conversations, and the joy of sharing food from around the globe.

Runme Shaw Cup
One of the festival's highlight was our Tan Sri Dr Runme Shaw Challenge Cup, an annual tradition that celebrates the most dedicated French language learners in Singapore. Hosted by the dynamic Maya Raisha, the event brought together students, teachers, families, and Francophonie supporters for an evening full of pride and celebration. The talented performers of Sing’Theatre added a special touch with a lively musical performance, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere. The event also included the announcement of the winners of the Dis-moi dix mots competition: an exciting moment that recognised creativity and passion for the French language.

Olympiads
Finally, the annual Olympiads took place in the lively venues of the Alliance Française. Each country was represented by its own colorful stall, inviting students into a world of discovery through playful and culture-based games. In small groups, students made their way from one country to the next, passports in hand, eager to collect stamps. Laughter, learning, and a spirit of friendly competition filled the air, turning the event into a joyful celebration of global cultures.A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us during this year’s Festival!
