An enchanting weekend of music with Ida Pelliccioli

Last weekend, Alliance Française had the honour of welcoming the renowned pianist and esteemed professor at the Paris Conservatoire, Ida Pelliccioli. Her visit was a highlight for our musical community, offering a variety of captivating events that resonated with music lovers of all ages.

About Ida Pelliccioli...

Ida Pelliccioli was born in Bergamo, Italy. She studied at the Nice Conservatoire de Région and at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris - Alfred Cortot in the class of Serguei Markarov, Unesco Artist for Peace. She participated in number of master-classes, among others with Jean-Claude Pennetier, Gerard Wyss and received a double diploma in interpretation and pedagogy, at the École Normale in Paris. Ida has been performing throughout Europe, Canada, Australia and South Africa. In 2024 she has debuted in Sweden, Lithuania, Austria, Iceland and Australia. She will make her debut in Thailand in 2025. During her 2024-2025 Season, Ida will perform, among other prestigious venues, at the National Gallery in London and the Royal Theater and Concert Hall in Nottingham.

PIANO MASTERCLASS

The musical journey kicked off on Friday, with Ida sharing her wealth experience during a private piano masterclass for young musicians. This intimate session provided invaluable insight into the art of piano performance, as she guided the participants in refining their technique, musical interpretation, and emotional expression. The masterclass allowed the students to showcase their chosen pieces, receiving constructive feedback that helped elevate their performance skills. It was a truly inspiring experience that left everyone involved feeling motivated and empowered, and it was clear that Ida’s passion for music and teaching resonated deeply with her students..

RECITAL FOR CHILDREN: DEBUSSY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

The following days, Ida took the stage once again, this time for a recital specially designed for children. ''Debussy at your Fingertips'' was a delightful and engaging performance that introduced young minds to the world of classical music through the genius of Claude Debussy. Ida’s ability to connect with children was truly remarkable. Through interactive activities like illustrated cards, body-clapping, and even origami, she brought Debussy's compositions to life in a way that was fun, educational, and deeply engaging. The recital was a beautiful reminder of how music, especially classical music, can be a gateway to creativity, imagination, and self-expression for little ones.

PIANO RECITAL: DEBUSSY AND INFLUENCES

The weekend finally ended with a captivating piano recital, specially designed for adults, where Ida explored the work of Claude Debussy and his key influences. Ida’s performance featured some of Debussy’s most iconic compositions, paired with works by his musical predecessors and contemporaries. From Rameau's elegance to Albéniz's vibrant rhythms, this recital was a masterful exploration of the connections between composers and the way they shaped one another’s music. It was a deeply enriching experience, offering a fresh perspective on Debussy’s work and revealing the many layers of inspiration that fueled his compositions.
